Hey y’all, happy Friday!
I really wanted to put that meme of Justin Timberlake and “It’s Gonna Be May!” as the header on this note, but honestly, I probably would be sued and years ago I had to Google what it was all about, so best to avoid having to explain it to other people like me. Besides, it’s already May- I missed that joke by a few days… always late to the punchline and the green trees are apparently always late to Maine. Seriously, this was my view last weekend (photo cred to my friend Chelle, who has us paint this beautiful view.) I came home to bare trees and 40 degrees. My capri wearing, flip flop loving self was a little chilly arriving home after an 80 degree weekend.
I got home on Monday after a wonderful trip to Lake Gaston, NC- by way of DC and Raleigh. It was so nice to be with 18 other moms discussing the joys and woes of motherhood, taking walks in the sun, chatting about life, travel and what I shouldn’t do to my house when my husband travels for work, not changing diapers, painting, playing games and just plain sitting and not having someone saying, “MAMA!” every five seconds, but by the third night away I was feeling a little physical longing for my kids. By night five (the longest I have been away) I really just wanted to hug them. Thank goodness for technology and the ability to hear their little voices and see their little faces… and for a daddy and grandparents who take good care of them, love them and try to make them forget I was gone. When I got home all three of us were just happy to pile on the bed and snuggle… and nap. So while last week I encouraged you to make time for you… this week I am saying enjoy the snuggles. Apparently I can’t make up my mind- such is the life and mind of a mom, huh?
But I digress, I am happy to be home and spending some time having fun with the kids this weekend! My daughter and I saw Matilda the Musical last night- it was hilarious. Midcoast Youth Theater did AN AMAZING job, I highly recommend seeing it this weekend if you can. I will warn you ahead of time, it is advertised as being 2 hours long and it last a little over 3 hours, but you will find yourself laughing out loud.
There are a lot of fun events this weekend and next week is teacher appreciation week. Be sure to check out the 6 Gift Ideas for Teachers… hint, it’s not a coffee mug shaped like an apple.
I hope that we see some sunshine this weekend and that everyone goes out and finds their family fun!
