Friday = Giveaways Galore!

A Note from the Publisher

By Whitney Wright- Midcoast, ME Publisher November 8, 2019

   Hello weekend… (and hopefully not hello snow. It was a major bummer when I heard that on the weather, I thought I was hearing things because it’s still early September right?!)

   I am so not ready for snow. I am never ready for snow. I write this while wearing flip flops and thinking about how I really should put my kids summer clothes away and make the winter clothes easier to access. I keep hoping that if I put it off maybe winter will never happen, but I don’t think it works that way!

   There are some exciting things in the works over here! I have TWO giveaways this week… yes, TWO! On top of that I am working on the Midcoast Maine Holiday Guide- that may take me a little while- there are so, so, so many events happening along the coast of Maine.

   While it comes as no surprise, summer is my favorite season, my two favorite holidays are Halloween and Christmas. So while I am still in mourning over summer being over, and still have my creepy baby doll head out from Halloween (she will be getting a Santa hat to help her make the transition over to the next holiday) I am super excited for Christmas events and decorating!

   Of course we first have to celebrate my daughter’s birthday which is coming right up. Last year I said we weren’t doing a big party again, but now that she is in kindergarten and getting all sorts of invitations sent home she was so excited about inviting her class for a party. Then that’s it- next year no big party (and I will probably stick my foot in my mouth next year too ha!) Honestly, I love parties. Before I had kids we had parties for everything- I loved decorating, planning the menu, coming up with a theme. Planning parties is totally my jam. I will blame my lack of excitement due to having two kids that have made me tired and pull me in so many directions that it’s hard to get as creative. (And hello time and money- you are harder to come by with two kids!) I love seeing them get excited so it makes it worth it. This year we decided (okay I decided) to go with a Scooby Doo mystery theme… so that I could reuse our Mystery Machine that got towed around for an hour in the dark. It killed me to spend the time and not really use it due to traveling during all the Halloween events. She has really been wanting to do an escape room, but is too young, so we figured with a Scooby theme we could have a mystery to solve at home. Wish me luck, I will probably be pulling my hair out in about a week or two! Now for the giveaways!

   First giveaway… (super excited about this one!)

    A 2020 FAMILY MEMBERSHIP to the Boothbay Railway Village! The Boothbay Railway Village has generously donated a membership valid for their 2020 season (they open in May for the regular season.) There are SO MANY benefits to the membership… and it covers 2 adults and all the children in your household- how awesome is that?! The giveaway will run from 11/7/19 to 12/30/19 at noon. And if you are looking for a wonderful North Pole train ride you should definitely check out the North Pole Express that runs on weekends from 11/30-12/22 (and next year with your membership you can get a discount on tickets!)

   SECOND GIVEAWAY

    I posted the other day that I wear many hats- one being super part time photographer. I love photography, however, it has sort of been on the back burner since I had the kids… except I always do Christmas mini sessions- I LOVE them. (And hopefully I will find myself doing more photography in the future.) So it only seemed fitting to add a mini session as a giveaway! So one family will win a 15-minute mini session on 11/24/19. Sessions are being held in East Boothbay… and include cookies! Giveaway ends on 11/13/19 at noon (so the winner has time to figure out their outfits 😊 ) If you would like more info on them or to see past sessions check them out here

And I think that’s it! Hope everyone has a warm and wonderful weekend!

Go find your family fun!
